Installing ClickTrackerASP

Installation of ClickTracker is super easy and should be able to be completed and running in under 10 minutes if you follow the instructions below.

First thing you need to do is unzip the zip file into the main site root of your website.  So the directory structure should look like http://www.yoursite.com/clicktracker.  

Included under the clicktracker directory you will find the following directories:

admin
config
database
images

and you will see two asp pages and a css style sheet in the main clicktracker directory.

You will want to move the database (clicktracker.mdb) into your database, fpdb or cgi-bin directory so it will be able to have the correct permissions on your server.  If your server does not have these directories, you may need to contact your web host and find where you can store the database so that it will have these permissions.

Once you have the database moved, you will need to change the linktracker.asp page in the config directory to point to the location of the database.  This is easily done by entering the correct path as shown below:

Once this is completed you should be able to access the ClickTrackerASP administration section by typing in your sites URL and /clicktracker/admin.  For example: "http://www.yoursite.com/clicktracker/admin".

Common Errors

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'

[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]General error Unable to open registry key 'Temporary (volatile) Jet DSN for process 0xcd94 Thread 0xc668 DBC 0x107f3f54 Jet'.

This error usually occurs because you have entered the wrong path to your database and the script can't find it.  Go back and make sure that the path you entered is correct and that you have everything spelled correctly.

Provider error '80004005'

Unspecified error

or

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'

[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Operation must use an updateable query.

This error is usually shown when the database directory does not have the correct permissions.  Contact your web host and have them look at the directory and tell them that you need an ASP script to be able to have write and delete permissions to the database.

Can I use ClickTrackerASP with another database?
